Ford Escape Hybrid options

I purchased a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid that is giving me 38 miles to the gallon and I want to improve the mileage. I have heard that a second battery can be installed along with a home charging system. Engine control modifications would also need to be added to enable the batteries to run down farther before the gas engine kicks in. I am also interested in converting the gas engine to E-85 capability. I am unable to find any information about accomplishing these goals and would appreciate any leads toward finding some help and guidance.

We have a Ford Escape Hybrid webpage with information about that vehicle. Although Hymotion has plans to offer PHEV kits for this vehicle that's about all that we can tell you at this point. We do not yet have an Escape PHEV page though once we get the Prius PHEV conversion process to a stable and working state it should be relatively easy to transfer the methods we've learned to the other vehicles with similar powertrains. --Rjf 18:53, 10 May 2006 (CDT)
